Ten years ago today, I sat down on a sidewalk bench with Ben Knelman and I coached a startup leader for the very first time.
That origin story is documented in epic detail in my 2014 love letter to aspiring coaches — and I am proud to report that The Bench and I are both still here a decade later.
(And I still coach Ben! His company Juntos was acquired by Nubank earlier this year.)
My last dispatch from the coaching-adventure-I-call-life was back in 2017 and much has transpired in the last four years:
- I co-founded the coaching company Fort Light and built a successful business combining 1–1 coaching, T-groups, and manager training; generating annual revenue of over $1M.
- Then in 2020, I made the heart-breakingly-painful-but-still-right decision to dissolve that partnership, and re-launched my solo coaching practice: ANAMARIA
- I facilitated 13 more T-group weekends for over 140 startup leaders
- I coached 25 more founders and startup leaders
